The Health and Safety Team have revised and combined existing policy and guidance on the safe use of gases and cryogens. 

The key aspects covered in the above are:

• Appointing a Gas/Cryo Safety Coordinator (GCSC) within your business unit (duties stated in the Roles and Responsibilities section)
• Ensuring the following stages are covered when considering new or refurbed systems: Specification, Design, Installation and Commissioning
• Ensuring there are suitable risk assessments and SOPs in place and workers are trained and competent for undertaking tasks with gases and cryogens
• Ensuring systems, vessels and accessories are inspected and maintained
• Ensuring monitoring is carried to establish compliance and remedial action taken where there are gaps

This is a workshop for Health and Safety Coordinators & Gas/Cryo Coordinators only to introduce this policy. This will include provision of resources for inventories and checks. Use of the gas concentration calculators will also be covered.
