Public Engagement Programme

Public engagement is of increasing strategic importance to higher education to strengthen relevance, responsiveness and accountability and to build trust. There are a myriad of ways in which the activities and benefits of research can be shared with the public – outreach, community engagement and collaboration to name a few.

This Programme has been developed in collaboration with the Institute for Policy and Engagement. Through talks, workshops and events, it will introduce you to public engagement and its many facets, support your skills development and provide you with opportunities to put your knowledge and skills into practice, gain experience and build confidence. Expect to take your communication skills to the next level.

For course listings and booking information, please see our Public Engagement sharepoint page.

Held monthly on Thursdays at 2pm in the Social Sciences and Arts Graduate Centre (unless stated otherwise). This programme is for all researchers. All sessions are in person.

Important information: places are limited and offered to researchers on the condition that they commit to attend a minimum of 5 sessions from the programme. Those who do so and participate in either New Perspectives or the 3 Minute Thesis events will be awarded a certificate in Public Engagement Practice. When a session is full, please add your name to the waiting list and you will be contacted if a place becomes available.
