Target audience: PGR's/ECR's

Description:

Stories in the media have the potential to reach millions of people worldwide, shaping public opinion, encouraging debate and influencing policy. Media coverage is an excellent way of highlighting your research to a range of important stakeholders, from potential partners to businesses and funders. But journalists receive hundreds of emails every day pitching stories to them, so how do you ensure that your news stands out above the competition and has the best chance of being picked up for publication or broadcast?

This practical workshop is your opportunity to work with the university's Press Office team to hone your writing skills and learn how to craft a press release to capture the media's imagination. You'll pick up plenty of hints and tips along the way including how to cut the jargon, the importance of a killer headline and how to compose a dazzling top line.

Attending “The Power of Storytelling in Research” workshop before doing this session is strongly recommended: https://training.nottingham.ac.uk/Course?courseref=RACRSR&dates=0
