Under 18s Safeguarding additional module: Safeguarding for Residentials (Online Course)

Overview:
This course gives an overview of key considerations in creating safe residential experiences for under 18s. It aims to familiarise you with relevant points from the University of Nottingham safeguarding procedures and support you to apply them in your role on a residential programme.

The training is designed for staff working with children and young people who are not current students. For example, prospective undergraduate students attending residential summer schools, overnight conferences or sports camps for under 18s.

Estimated completion time: 15 minutes

Pre-requisites: complete the under 18s safeguarding core training and event planning and management modules before taking this module.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the responsibilities involved in hosting an overnight programme for under 18s
  • Be familiar with key considerations and best practise when:
    • managing information and contacts
    • allocating overnight accommodation for under 18s
    • obtaining first aid and medical attention
