Communication and interaction with international students can be hampered by cultural differences. This course is an opportunity to explore some of these differences and examine ways in which communication can be improved.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
discuss difficulties that staff have interacting with international students in a variety of technical support environments;
explore why some of these difficulties occur and understand the learning approach of different cultures;
examine different approaches to communicating with students from different cultures to help ensure positive working relationships.

Tutor input, group discussion and interactive exercises.
Who should attend
All technical staff who have contact with international staff and students who would like to improve communication. One of the contexts examined will be demonstrating.
