Aims and Objectives :

  • Familiarise participants with the display screen equipment regulations and University policy

  • Familiarise participants with the health effects associated with extensive use of DSE

  • Enable participants to examine the ergonomics of the workstation

  • Familiarise participants with the assessment of workstations

  • Inform participants of their entitlement to eyesight testing and monitoring

Who should attend : all 'users' of display screen equipment i.e.those who are involved in working with computers and word processors as a significant part of their job. This course is aimed at employees of the University but it is open to postgraduate students if space permits. Please note that nominations for the course are reviewed by the Safety Office and priority will be given to members of staff. Students will be notified if it is not possible for them to attend a particular date because of demand from staff.


Please note:
If you book a place on this course and fail to attend or fail to give two working days notice of cancellation there will be a charge to cover costs. The charge is dependent on the cost of the course to the University.

 If you are intending to travel by car to the training venue, please allow sufficient time to locate a parking space and to walk to the training venue, as parking may not be available immediately adjacent.

This course is normally run twice per year and is open to staff from any School or Professional Service. If dates for forthcoming courses are not displayed below, we will be waiting for room allocations from Central Timetabling and the dates will posted as soon as we receive confirmation of the location (typically late August).
