This ‘Introduction to Science Policy’ Workshop will give you the chance to find out more about the policy process and the methods by which you can contribute to it.  The Workshop will also give you the chance to put your questions to the people who have worked regularly on science policy issues.


Seminar Structure

An introduction to science policy – Presentation by Dr Michael Elves,
(Chairman, Newton’s Apple,
formerly Director of Scientific and Educational Affairs, Glaxo Wellcome, and Special Adviser to the House of Commons Science and Technology Select Committee 1997-2005).

Science in Parliament  - Mr Andrew Miller  
(Formerly MP for Ellesmere Port and Neston, and Chair of the House of Commons Science and Technology Select Committee.)


Science in Government -  Dr Claudia Lally 
(Deputy Head of Resilience, Government Office for Science. )


Role of the Scientific Societies in Policy formation -  Dr Stephen Benn
(Director of Parliamentary Affairs, Society of Biology.)
