Hall Tutor Training

This two day programme provides a comprehensive overview of the role of the Resident Tutor, and provides an opportunity to meet with other newly appointed Tutors from across the University.  Topics covered include Tutor responsibilities, diversity and inclusion, listening skills and assertiveness.


By the end of the programme participants will be able to:


  • Describe the responsibilities of a Resident Tutor.
  • Locate support services for students and appreciate when/how to refer an individual to them.
  • Know the roles and responsibilities of other Professionals in Halls, including Wardens/Deputy Wardens/Security and Portering staff.
  • Describe effective ways of dealing with challenging behaviour.
  • Appreciate the importance of team work, clear communication and work life/balance
