Course Description:


This course will provide useful guidance for the 'new lecturer' and a refresher for more experienced lecturers who would like to build their confidence, solve problems and improve their students' learning and satisfaction.  


Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this workshop you will be able to:
  • adopt an appropriate approach to lecturing
  • in light of research evidence about the effectiveness of lectures
  • in relation to other components of student learning on the course 
  • in the context of the information age within which students study
  • with consideration of fitness for purpose in a given context
  • structure lecture content effectively 
  • ask and answer questions effectively during lectures, including using technologies

About this course

This online course was produced by Epigeum as part of their University and College Teaching (UCT) programme.  Each course will take between 2 and 4 hours to complete, and is equivalent to a half-day workshop.
