This course is intended for staff who are either new or relatively new to supervising substantial student projects or dissertations at either undergraduate or graduate level. It may also be of interest as a refresher for those who have been supervising for a number of years. Course Description:
The focus of this course is on the supervision process and how you, as a supervisor, can structure and organise the period of time available to maximise the likelihood that your students will produce a project report, dissertation or research thesis of excellent quality that meets the standards required.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this workshop you will be able to:
Articulate how you intend to approach supervising before you begin;
Identify the main differences between supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate level;
Plan different ways to get students started on their project or dissertation;
Reflect on some of the factors that need to be taken into account as students progress;
Be clear about your role as your student approaches the end of their project or dissertation.
