Course Description:

This course will help you provide easy access to recommended texts to support your modules, and make them available to your students through Moodle. The lists show real time book availability, making it straightforward for your students to keep up with core and recommended readings. You can link to eBooks, online journal articles and other web-based learning materials. You can also use the system to request digitised articles or book chapters for your students. The course will allow you to create and update your lists whenever you need, without having to separately inform the Library of purchase requirements.

Learning Outcomes:

Participants will be given an opportunity to:

  • Gain an understanding of online reading listsfrom both the student and staff perspective (

  • Consider ‘best practice’ approaches to structuring reading lists, to most effectively convey the academic intentions of course readings and to ensure that texts are accessible in appropriate quantities and formats

  • Explore the Talis Aspire reading list management software, with hands-on practice

  • Develop confidence in maintaining existing reading lists & creating new ones, including linking to lists from Moodle

  • Discover how students are interacting with the list once it’s online
