Who should attend:

International staff who teach at the University wishing to communicate more clearly.


Course Description:

This is not a group 'taught course' but a series of individual coaching sessions.  There are 3 sessions, each lasting about an hour.  The aim is to help international staff improve their clarity when speaking English - and especially when teaching.


Learning Outcomes:

At the end of the course participants will:

1. Recognise what makes speech clear to others;
2. Identify areas in own speed which hinder intelligibility;
3. Increase intelligibility of own words. 


Course Tutor:

Lara Meredith is a Speech and Language Therapist with a background in teaching English as a Second Language.  She has worked with speakers of many languages (including Arabic, Chinese, Spanish and Russian) and helped them use English clearly.  As a Speech and Language Therapist, she supports people to communicate effectively.
