Who should attend

Managers and staff who lead projects of any size at the University and wish to understand practical project management techniques.

However, please note: If you have already completed at ILM endorsed award in Project Management or you are Prince 2 qualified, you should not attend this course.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Recognise the stages of a project and the techniques that can be used to manage each stage
  • Employ  key project management tools such as GANTT charts, communication plans and risk analysis to plan and manage a project
  • Utilise practical resource management techniques for financial and HR control

Process

Trainer input with group and individual work, participants are encourage to use their own projects as a basis for individual work.

This course is not a hands on computer course of the software package of MS Project, but familiarises the delegates with project management tools which can be adapted for use with software packages after the course.

There is an optional follow-on half day short course 'MS Project' for delegates who wish to go on to hands on computer experience of Microsoft's flagship Project Management software.
