Aims and Objectives

To help you prepare for writing your Architecture and the Built Environment dissertation by considering: 

 

  • The expectations of a Masters degree in this area
  • Structuring and writing the Literature Review
  • Including the right amount of critical discussion
  • Describing the methodology clearly
  • Getting the right “flow” through the dissertation

 

Process

Tutor input, individual and pairwork and group activities, an opportunity to discuss difficulties you may be having with the dissertation writing process, and how you could apply some of the ideas presented in class to your own subject area and topic. Note that there is only a limited amount of actual writing in this module. 




Who should attend

International students on taught Masters Courses in Architecture and the Built Environment who would like a brief introduction to, and overview of the process, language and structure of dissertation writing.

 

Note that there will be separate courses offered for students in the School of Mathematical Sciences and for students in other areas of Engineering
