Who should attend?
This qualification will enable delegates to gain generic and specific management and technical skills appropriate to their field or aspirations. It also provides opportunities for research, analysis and original thought which are skills valued by Higher Education Institutions. Although the title of the Diploma refers to business and administration, the modules covered can apply to a number of roles throughout the University, other than solely administrative roles.
This course is NOT open to postgraduate students - it is designed for University staff only.

You should also ask your line manager to complete the online Line Manager Approval Form to confirm their approval for you to attend this training course.
There are 6 modules for this qualification.
Cost
There is a £170 charge payable by the School/Department to attend this course and you must attend all of the days to gain certification. If you don't attend Day 1 without giving at least 3 days' notice, and the place is not taken by another delegate, then the School/Department will still be charged.
Please note that lunch will not be offered as part of this course.

Module 1: Effective Communications
We start the programme by exploring the importance of effective communication, and why it is critical for businesses.

Module 2: Problem Solving and Decision Making
Day two provides an opportunity to understand the relationship between problem solving and decision making and to apply tools and techniques of both.

Module 3: Managing Projects and Resources
The focus of day three will be to examine the principles of project management and how projects are set up. We will also explore monitoring and controlling resources to pursue organisational goals.

Module 4: Understanding Organisations and Business Ethics
On day four we will explore the relationship between an organisation and its environment. You will also be introduced to the concepts of business ethics in terms of the underpinning theories and their application in a business context.

Assessment
The programme includes work-based assessed assignments, covering the modules from the taught sessions. These assessments are designed to help you develop and embed your learning in the work place.
