Who should attend

Teaching staff wishing to explore ways to make their small group teaching more engaging for students.

Course Description

This session has been specially commissioned by the Vet School, but is open to all teaching staff. it is designed to help staff make their small groups work well

Learning outcomes:

By the end of this workshop you will be able to

  • Describe how to use active listening skills and emotional intelligence in small groups more effectively;
  • Run small groups which engage students and maximise their learning.

About the tutor

Alan Mortiboys is an external consultant with extensive experience working in education and staff development, both in the UK and abroad. Alan is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. His publications include How to be an Effective Teacher hi Higher Education (Open University press 2010) and Teaching with Emotional Intelligence (Routledge 2012).
