A Manager's Guide to Developing Team Members
Duration 2.5 hours
Team Professional Development

Who should attend

Any manager or team leader who wants to become more proficient in developing their team members.

Course Description

As a manager you are likely to operate in a number of ways to develop your staff. On some occasions (for example when someone is new to a role) you will use one-to-one training. At other times you will be coaching – helping someone to further develop their skills in a particular task. At other times, you may be operating more as a mentor, using your knowledge and experience to help a team member to develop further, perhaps for their next role or future career aspirations. This course is designed to give you a refresher of all of those aspects, with fresh tips and hints.

Topics covered include:

  • The different ways in which you can help people to develop in the workplace, including training, coaching and mentoring
  • Structuring a training session or programme
  • A coaching framework (or two)
  • Mentoring and reverse mentoring
  • The key skills and behaviours you need to help people to develop
