Aims and Objectives :

Participants will consider:

  • The Health and Safety at Work Act and its enforcement

 

  • Regulations relevant in the University environment (COSHH, First Aid, Manual Handling, Display Screen Equipment, etc)

 

  • Role of Safety Office and Occupational Health

 

  • How to prevent accidents in the workplace

 

  • The University's arrangements for covering the key safety hazards in the workplace

 

Who should attend: Any member of staff wanting a review of health and safety as it affects the University.  This course is aimed at employees of the University but it is open to postgraduate students if space permits. Please note that nominations for the course are reviewed by the Safety Office and priority will be given to members of staff. Students will be notified if it is not possible for them to attend a particular date because of demand from staff.

 


Please note: If you book a place on this course and fail to attend or fail to give 48 hours notice of cancellation there will be a charge to cover costs.. The charge is dependent on the cost of the course to the University.

Please note:  If you are intending to travel by car to the training venue, please allow sufficient time to locate a parking space and to walk to the training venue, as parking may not be available immediately adjacent.


This course is normally run twice per year and is open to staff from any School or Professional Service. If dates for forthcoming courses are not displayed below, we will be waiting for room allocations from Central Timetabling and the dates will posted as soon as we receive confirmation of the location (typically late August).
