An opportunity to listen to Caroline Wintersgill, a publishing consultant who has spent 25 years commissioning academic books for some of the UK’s leading presses, talk about how to decide whether your thesis is publishable, and the practical steps you need to take go get published if this is the case.

Aims:
• Understand how to decide if your thesis is publishable
• Understand the processes and timescales involved in making the transition from a successful PhD viva and draft manuscript to monograph
• Get advice from a publisher as to how to publish a good thesis
Objectives:
By the end of the course you will:
• Understand what makes a thesis publishable and begin to judge whether yours might be
• Understand the sector of academic publishing, its contexts and requirements
• Understand the research you will be expected to do in order to position your book appropriately, and the first steps to take to initiate discussions with publishers.
