Mindfulness practice session

This series of lunch-time mindfulness practice sessions will offer opportunities to practice and learn with a group or to re-connect with your mindfulness practice. You can opt to join us for one or more of the sessions.

What will we be doing?

Our main focus will ‘sitting’ for different mindfulness practices, being aware of our experiences. There will be an opportunity for discussion of your mindfulness experiences after the practices but our main aim will be to practice mindfulness approaches and different anchors of our attention with quietness. The sessions will be based on the non-secular approaches of the Mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) and cognitive behavioural (MBCT) courses.

Who will be leading the practices?

The sessions will be led by Dr Jo Bramham, Professional Development (Teacher Development Level 1 in Mindfulness-based teaching).

This course is led by a mindfulness teacher trained and engaged in regular mindfulness supervision & CPD in accordance with the UK Network for Mindfulness-based Teacher Training Organisations https://www.ukmindfulnessnetwork.co.uk/.

Who should attend?

This session is for staff with an experience of mindfulness practice e.g. through the University’s 8-week mindfulness programme.

What do I need to bring?

You may wish to bring a mat, cushion /meditation bench or blanket if that is what you are used to. Sorry, we are unable to provide refreshments at this session so you may wish to eat your lunch before you arrive.

Can I just turn up if I can find the time on the day of the practice?

It helps if you can book in advance so that we can monitor the demand for these sessions. Hopefully, it will help you to find time to practice by having it in the diary!
