Microsoft Teams is the ultimate messaging app, a workspace for real-time collaboration and communication, meetings, file and app sharing, and even the occasional emoji! All in one place, all in the open, all accessible to everyone.

Learning Outcomes:

At the completion of this course you should be able to:

  • Understand what Microsoft Teams is – Chat is informal and Teams is structured.
  • Download the Microsoft Teams app
  • Using Chat, know how to:
    • Compose and reply to a group or one-to-one message
    • Format a message using the rich text editor
    • Use @mentions to get someone's attention
    • Attach a file
    • Schedule a meeting
    • Share and manage files
    • Add tabs
    • Trigger a video or audio call
    • Add people in
    • Searching messages
  • Using Teams, know how to:
    • Create teams and navigate the interface
    • View, create and follow a channel
    • Post messages
    • Schedule, edit, join and cancel a meeting
    • Add, rename, remove and use tabs
    • Access files through SharePoint
    • Work with other Apps
    • Manage membership
    • Searching messages and data (portal.office.com)
  • Using Breakout Rooms, know how to:

    • Create the breakout rooms
    • Assigning participants
    • Closing the rooms
    • Using announcements
    • Responding to participants who request assistance

 

Pre-Requisites:

The course is designed to build on the skills acquired as part of the “Microsoft Office 365: Getting started with OneDrive and OneNote” course. Therefore you are strongly recommended to attend this course or be confident that you can demonstrate proficiency in these skills.

To participate in this session you will need to access Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365) and you will need to enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) before the session starts.

This session will focus on the PC/ Windows use of Microsoft 365.

Course Leader input, demonstrations, and hands-on practical sessions.

You are required to attend the whole of the course, this is not a "drop in" session.
