Description:
Following on from the Academic Careers in Higher Education panel session, late stage Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Social Sciences students will be able to use this session to focus on enhancing their ability to make competitive applications for their first posts in academia.
This workshop will concentrate on CVs and cover letters with input from Kirstin Barnard, Senior Careers Adviser for Postgraduate Researchers. She will offer tips and advice on making an effective and interesting application as well as insights into the things that can irritate recruiters when they are shortlisting. Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions about applying for academic jobs in the arts and humanities.
This will be followed by Academic careers: a focus on interviews (Faculty of Arts).
Aims: To develop understanding and confidence in preparing effective written applications
Process: Webinar - Presentations from tutor followed by a Q&A session
