This course includes:
  • who should carry out an investigation.

  • the reason for carrying out investigations and the implications of the Reporting of Incidents, Diseases and Dangerous Occurances Regulations 1995 (RIDDOR).

  • Dos and Don'ts when carrying out an investigation.

  • a syndicate exercise to determine the Immediate Causes and the Underlying Causes of an accident.

Who should attend:
Anybody who will in the course of their duty be required to carry out an accident investigation e.g. managers, supervisors.

This course is only for employees of the University, it is not applicable to students or non-University staff.

Attendance Notice

We are working with external trainers to expand our offering, so please prioritise your booking to help us utilise these resources effectively.

Cancellations: If you cannot attend, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance so we can offer your place to someone on the waiting list.  

Reporting: Please note that non-attendance is reported to Line Managers, Heads of Business Units, and FPVCs.  

Absences: If you have a legitimate reason for missing a session (e.g. illness), please let us know so we can update our records and ensure you aren't unfairly penalised.
