This course will cover the positive impact you can have by coaching yourself. Life is busy and there can be times when stopping and pausing and asking yourself some key questions could help you unlock answers to challenges you might be faced with.
This course is an opportunity to understand what self-coaching is, the benefits of having a self-coaching conversation and allow you to explore when you might look to do this.
You will learn a method enabling you to have a self-coaching conversation and explore how to get yourself in the right mindset for this to make it work for you.
This workshop relates to the: “Innovation and Problem solving”, “Self-leadership” and “Adaptability”competencies outlined in the Competency Framework.
Please note that a similar workshop was delivered in 2024/25 under the title "Become your own coach: unlock your potential through self-coaching".
Learning outcomes:
Understand what self-coaching is and the concept of growth mindset in self-coaching
Work through a model to develop skills in asking powerful questions of yourself and goal setting
Build self-accountability and undertake action planning
Please be aware that this workshop is a discussion-based session with breakout group exercises. You do not have to share anything you are not comfortable with but bear in mind you will be asked to reflect on your own experiences.
After attending this course, the recommended progression would be to attend “Introduction to coaching” or “Listening Skills.”
