EchoPoll Introduction and PowerPoint Add-in Training

Format: Hybrid delivery (in-person and online in Teams).
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes (1 hour training and 30 minutes optional workshop).
Audience: Academic staff and teaching support teams
Prerequisites: None (recommended: activate EchoPoll account and download the app in advance, bring your own device, mobile phone, laptop for participation in the activities)


Course Overview.

This session introduces EchoPoll, the university’s centrally supported Audience Response Tool. Participants will explore its key features, including the PowerPoint add-in, web interface, and floating toolbar. The session includes a live demonstration from the student perspective, followed by hands-on practice in setting up and running polls in PowerPoint.


Learning Outcomes.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify and navigate the main components of EchoPoll
  • Participate in and deliver live polling sessions
  • Create and manage polls using the PowerPoint add-in
  • Understand compliance requirements for session delivery
  • Access and interpret session data and reports
  • Distinguish between the PowerPoint and web-based EchoPoll interfaces

 


Workshop (optional).

This workshop builds on the core training for the EchoPoll PowerPoint add-in and allows the opportunity to practice using EchoPoll with colleagues, with the opportunity to also discuss your teaching practice if you wish to.

The workshop will introduce gamification in EchoPoll using the ‘teams’ (groups) option, scores, the leaderboard and ranking slides in EchoPoll. The workshop will also look at how to use symbolic notation in a polling session.
