Overview of the course
This course offers an overview of learning theory and its impact on teaching practices in UK Higher Education. You will explore the scholarship of teaching and learning, applying these concepts within your own contexts. Key theories will be examined to support evidence-informed approaches that enhance teaching quality and professional practice.
This course will also support you in your reflection, development and critical examination of your practice which can support your reflective account for fellowship submission through the Nottingham Recognition Scheme (NRS).
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this session, you will be able to:
Describe, in their context, how learning theory is applied and what scholarship of teaching and learning means.
Explain learning theory currently underpinning practice in UK Higher Education Institutes.
Identify how learning theory supports evidence-informed approaches to teaching and recognition of professional practice

Who should attend?
PGTA’s already in post, technicians, demonstrators, libraries, early academics, returners to teaching, international academics and anyone who delivers or supports teaching and wants to develop their practice.
Attendance
Participants are required to attend a minimum of 90% of any synchronous online training course to be marked as "Attended." Attendance is tracked through the attendance record generated by Microsoft Teams, which monitors login times and the duration of attendance in the session.
