CATE: Writing a Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence expression of interest for UoN

Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence (CATE) is awarded annually by Advance HE and can be used to show your commitment to individual and team excellence in learning and teaching.

In June 2026, UoN will invite teams to submit an expression of interest for CATE. The team who submits the strongest expressions of interest will be supported by the university to submit a full application for CATE to Advance HE in March 2027.

Learning Outcomes

This session introduces UON colleagues to how to write an expression of interest.

It covers the following:

  • Overview of the award criteria
  • Advice on what makes a successful submission

More information can be found on the NTFS/CATE Moodle site

Who should attend?

  • Teams who can demonstrate an outstanding impact on student outcomes in higher education and want to share their excellent practice nationally.
  • The Lord Dearing Award (LDA) criteria for teams reflects NTFS, so we would especially welcome applications/interest from LDA award holders.
  • You are welcome to attend this session if you are interested in submitting an expression of interest in 2026 ready for the CATE deadline of March 2027 or in subsequent years.

You may also be interested in the workshop: NTFS/CATE - Expression of Interest, Pipeline or Preparation? which helps you to decide where you are on your NTFS/CATE journey .

The workshop is delivered by a member of the Educator Academy
