Learning outcomes

By the end of this workshop, you will:

• Understand the university’s inclusive recruitment and selection processes and what is required of you as a panel chair/member.
• Ensure all candidates have a positive recruitment experience.
• Be able to make effective selection decisions using the university’s structured interview approach.
• Be able to give effective feedback maintaining the reputation of the university as a place where people want to come and work.

Process

To attend the in-person workshop ‘Effective selection and interview skills for chair and panel members’ to:

1. Complete the ‘Introduction to recruitment and selection at the university’ elearning. To enrol onto the elearning you must book using this link on Central Short Courses. 
   
   This is a short elearning module (15 minutes) designed to give you the basic knowledge for recruitment at the university and key legislation principles to help you prepare for the in-person session.
   
   
2. Once booked onto the elearning you will receive a confirmation email with a link to access it, or once booked, you can access it from your Elearning Central Short Courses list.
   
   
3. You must successfully complete the ‘Introduction to recruitment and selection at the university’ elearning with a pass rate of 80% or above.
   
   
4. Once completed, you will be instructed to click a button which will complete and close the elearning. You will be directed to central short courses to book onto a date for the in-person workshop described above. Once you have booked on, you will receive an email confirmation to confirm your booking has been successful.

Who should complete this training

Anyone who is a chair/panel member and actively recruiting and has not attended previous face to face or on-line sessions.  Please note, places are limited to 20 so please only book on when you are planning to recruit.  This is not suitable for those wishing to develop personal skills for interviews – training for that can be found here.  

PLEASE NOTE: This training replaces the ‘Interview Skills for Chair and Panel Members’. If you have already attended this course, you do not need to book onto the ‘Effective selection and interview skills for chair and panel members’.
