Evacuation Chair Training

This is a practical course during which participants will be using an evacuation chair on a staircase.

Suitable footwear should be worn throughout the course, i.e. comfortable and stable.


The size of the group is limited to six people to ensure sufficient opportunity for hands-on practice.

Aims and Objectives:

  • To develop knowledge, practical skills and confidence in the use of an evacuation chair
  • To understand issues relating to the evacuation of mobility-impaired persons
  • Understand how to use the chair safely, including safe manual handling
  • Have confidence in the chair and the ability to operate it

  

Who should attend: all those who might need to use an Evacuation Chair to assist mobility-impaired persons to leave the building.

Please note - the courses on the 17th November 2022 are for the IBEX 700H evacuation chair only - not all buildings are fitted with this chair and therefore may not be suitable for all staff. Any queries, please contact firesafety@nottingham.ac.uk to check prior to booking.

Please assemble outside of the room allocated on your joining instructions.

If you book a place on this course and fail to attend or fail to give 48 hours notice of cancellation there will be a charge to cover costs. The charge is dependent on the cost of the course to the University.

If you are intending to travel by car to the training venue, please allow sufficient time to locate a parking space and to walk to the training venue, as parking may not be available immediately adjacent.
