Description:
This session will provide an overview of what to expect if you are planning a career in academic research. This will include pathways to becoming an independent researcher; strategies for planning the skills, partnerships and experience you need to be an academic; and fellowships and grants that you can target to facilitate this transition. The session will also provide general tips and tricks for building a successful career and highlight skills that you should proactively develop. By the end of the session you should be more aware of how you can transition from a post-graduate student to an independent researcher.
