This online session is run by the Researcher Academy as part of the Arts Faculty Training Programme

The Researcher Academy courses are very popular and the majority are run in both semesters to give you the opportunity to attend at a time of the year that suits you. 

Target Audience: New postgraduate research students (PGRs) from the Faculty of Science – either MRes, MPhil, PhD students. This session is not applicable to those on taught Masters courses.

Process: 

Webinar presentation with information about Researcher Academy, with discussions in Webinar chat.

A link to the Webinar will be sent out in joining instructions prior to the start time.

Description:

The aim of this session is to help new and relatively new postgraduate research students understand what is available from Researcher Academy to help them during their time as a postgraduate research student. It will introduce them to the range of research, professional and personal development opportunities available and provide an opportunity to network with other research students.

The session will provide:

  • An overview of Researcher Academy and the various funding and development opportunities it coordinates.
  • An overview of Researcher Academy’s Researcher Development Programme of courses that are free of charge to postgraduate students at the University of Nottingham. It will delve deeper into some of the courses that would be particularly useful to researchers in their first year of postgraduate studies; and
  • An opportunity to link up with other new postgraduate research students and share experiences

Our webinars/ online courses are very popular, especially in the current period and we are experiencing large volumes of people on our waiting lists.  

Please do let us know if you would like to cancel your place on this course so we can offer your place to another delegate. 

Please note, attendances for courses will be recorded. There are no training points associated with courses run by the Researcher Academy.

Pre-Requisites

This session may be recorded. If a recording is kept of the session, then please note, that it may be made available to the wider University of Nottingham researcher community.

You will need a headset or speakers for the webinar and we recommend that you join fifteen minutes before the webinar is due to start so that you can test them. You won’t need to use your microphone, any questions can be asked via the chat. Make sure that your speakers or headset are plugged in switched on before you click on the link to open the webinar.

Log in by typing your name into the 'guest' box (not 'registered user'). It is not possible to log in with your university username and password - this will not work.

If you are prompted to update your flash player, or download and install any ‘add-ins’ please do this.

 If you run into any problems with your speakers or headset go to 'Meeting' >  'Audio setup wizard' and follow the steps displayed.
