The Biosafety course provides an introduction to working safely at the University with Biological Agents. The course will outline the legal requirements under COSHH and the GM Contained Use Regulations and how that is implemented at the University. It will also cover the requirement to seek advice from the Biosafety Committee. This course is required for everyone working, supervising or in management control of work with Biological Agents
Learning Outcomes:
Understand what a Biological Agent is and what is required if you want to genetically modify Biological Agents
Be able to classify your work correctly
Know the process for submitting an assessment to the Biosafety Committee
Understand the containment requirements and how to select the relevant control measures
Be able to select the correct inactivation process any waste produced
