Using a coaching approach as a manager goes beyond giving direction - it’s about unlocking potential. When managers coach, they foster a culture of trust, motivation, and growth. This not only improves individual performance and job satisfaction but also helps teams thrive in a more engaged and empowered workplace.
This practical and reflective session introduces you to the key principles of coaching and shows you how to apply them informally, in the flow of daily work. You’ll learn how to listen actively to build stronger engagement with your colleagues, and how to spot opportunities to support development through meaningful conversations.
You’ll revisit what coaching really is - and isn’t - and discover how to use core skills like asking open questions, building trust, and offering space for reflection. You’ll also be introduced to a simple but effective method for having impactful coaching conversations that don’t require formal settings or long-time commitments. More importantly, you’ll look at how you build a culture of coaching in your area of work so these skills can be utilised over time.
This workshop relates to the following competencies outlined in the Competency Framework: Communication, Innovation, and Leading Others: drives performance.
