Course aims

This in person training session will provide an introduction to the research analytics tool SciVal.

Computer room A13 on floor A (ground floor) of George Green Library, University Park Campus

Target audience

All research and research-enabling staff

Description

The session will cover the data which can be viewed and analysed via SciVal, including research volume, citation metrics and policy mentions. Participants will learn how to access SciVal, navigate the SciVal modules and understand their own publication data that is available via the tool. The session will be interactive with the opportunity to try out the tool in practice.

Learning outcomes

  • Know how to access and navigate SciVal
  • Learn about the data that can be accessed via SciVal, including citations and citation metrics
  • View and understand your SciVal researcher profile
  • Understand the limitations of SciVal metrics and how to use metrics responsibly
