Challenging your Imposter Phenomenon
Duration 2 hours
Team Professional Development

This course will cover how to challenge feelings of being an imposter. Whatever role we do, and whatever experience we have, we may all experience these feelings from time to time. This session encourages you to understand and challenge your inner critic, get curious about your feelings and support yourself.

This workshop relates to the “Self-leadership” competencies outlined in the Competency Framework.

Please note that a similar workshop was delivered in 2024/25 under the title “Imposter Phenomenon: tools to better understand and challenge your inner critic”.

Learning outcomes:

  • Understand what we really mean by Imposter Phenomenon and its potential impact
  • Recognise the signs of IP (in yourself and others) and consider in which contexts it appears
  • Explore typical profiles and triggers of people experiencing IP
  • Investigate practical ways to manage IP and re-build confidence

Please be aware that this workshop is a discussion-based session with pair and group exercises. You do not have to share anything you are not comfortable with but bear in mind you will be asked to reflect on your own experiences.

Pre-work: before the session, please complete the task outlined in this document.
