Writing policy briefs 

Who should attend 

Academics with policy-relevant research who want to create a policy brief document to support their policy impact work, and APM staff who support academics on impact work. 

Learning Outcomes 

This 2 hour session will explore what a policy brief aims to do and why academics should consider creating them, what it should look like, and what content is most effective. 

 
Participants will: 

• Learn how creating a policy brief can support their policy impact work 
• Understand the objectives of a policy brief and how to use them 
• Learn the principles of good content and good visuals for a policy brief 
• Learn where to go for more support 
• Have the opportunity to begin sketching out their own policy brief.
