This course is a practical and insightful session designed to equip leaders with the tools and confidence to lead their teams effectively through periods of change. In the workshop we’ll explore common barriers to change, and the responses you might see and hear from individuals as they adjust to change, with the chance to discuss and develop strategies for maintaining team and individual morale, trust, and engagement.  

The session offers practical strategies for clear, empathetic communication; tips on how to foster resilience and adaptability; and a focus on continuing to drive high performance and alignment with organisational goals. Whether facing a small shift or major transformation, participants will gain a stronger understanding of how to navigate change with clarity and purpose, ensuring their teams feel supported, informed, and motivated throughout the change process.  

This workshop relates to the Communication, Adaptability, Leading others: sets the direction, Leading others: Drives performance, and Leading others: Promotes wellbeing and inclusion competencies outlined in the Competency Framework.  

Please note that a similar workshop was delivered in 2024/25 under the title “Leading others in times of change”.  

Learning outcomes:  

  • Identify potential barriers to the successful implementation of change in the workplace 
  • Recognise the stages of change and the impact these have on individuals and teams 
  • Learn how to communicate change effectively to your teams to reduce uncertainty and resistance 
  • Implement practical strategies to support your team throughout the change process 

Please be aware that this workshop is a discussion-based session with pair and group exercises. You do not have to share anything you are not comfortable with but bear in mind you will be asked to reflect on your own experiences.
