This workshop is for senior leaders at level 6 and above. 

The purpose of this workshop is to explore leading strategic thinking and decision-making models and consider how these can be applied practically in the work you do. In this workshop you’ll will gain insights from relevant recent research conducted on the various tensions at play when making strategic decisions and explore practical ideas on how to bring more strategy into your role in an increasingly complex BANI environment. 

This workshop relates to the “Communication”, “Self-leadership”, “Collaboration”, “Adaptability, “Leading others: sets the direction”, “Leading others: Drives performance”, “Leading others: Promotes wellbeing and inclusion” competencies outlined in the Competency Framework.  

Learning outcomes:  

  • Appreciate key aspects of the macro/external context influencing strategic planning 
  • Revisit strategy where they are now, reflecting on how strategy currently operates in their area. 
  • Apply two tried‑and‑tested tools to aid strategic thinking (PESTLE; The 3 Horizons Model) 
  • Gain practical ideas on how to bring more strategic thinking into their role 

Please be aware that this workshop is a discussion-based session with pair and group exercises. You do not have to share anything you are not comfortable with but bear in mind you will be asked to reflect on your own experiences.
