Improvement Practitioner 3: Improving Performance through Lean Six Sigma Management - HE Green Belt
Duration 4 days
Team Getting in Shape Team

2024 update:

We have been recently celebrating some job promotions for colleagues moving to other areas of UoN. Unfortunately all the start dates have fallen across Jan/Feb 2024 meaning in the short-term the Lean team is running at a 75% reduction in team capacity.

We have therefore had to make some tough  decisions and have temporarily removed any 2024 central short courses that weren't already filled. We are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause and we will get central courses open again as soon as we are able.

We may be able to offer training to any teams/depts (minimum 10 delegates) that are planning specific improvement projects where training may support this to launch if so please get in touch with us here.

Pre-requisites

Participants must have studied Improvement Practitioner 2 (Orange belt) Practical level in order to study this course.

Course aim

This course is designed to build on participants knowledge of improvement tools and methodologies of Lean Six Sigma thinking. The focus of this course is the application of Lean Six Sigma PDCA methods to real-life improvement projects. It focuses on the key tools and techniques of Lean Six Sigma that you are most likely to utilise in an HE environment to Green Belt depth. The interactive days use a set of scenarios and exercises to demonstrate how the application of Lean Six Sigma can achieve understanding, recognition and delivery of opportunities in your area of the University.

Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Gain knowledge of the principles and methodologies of leading a Lean Six Sigma improvement project to Green Belt level in any HE environment
  • Learn/revisit the basics of project and change management in the context of Lean improvement projects
  • Explore where tools and techniques can be applied in their own working environments to bring about sustainable improvements in their processes and ways of working
