This session will introduce the key skills and considerations in supporting the development of others, to help you facilitate effective career development conversations and understand the opportunities within the university for individuals to develop their careers. The session will also introduce talent management principles and processes to help you to take a strategic approach to facilitating the development of talent within your team.

This session is designed for any member of staff who has responsibility for overseeing the professional development of staff within their team, across any job, family and at any level.

Learning Outcomes:
• Reflect on your understanding of career development and the importance of career development for your team
• Identify and apply skills and techniques that underpin effective career conversations
• Understand basic principles for taking a strategic approach to your team's development through talent management
• Identify career development opportunities and resources within the university to support the career development of your team
Please note this session will cover broad themes that will cover core principles, techniques and advice that are universally relevant to help you support the career development of your team. Therefore, this will not cover specific advice for individual job roles/pathways.
