Aims and Objectives
Participants will :
Gain familiarity with the main requirements of the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 and the University Policy for implementing the Regulations
Gain an understanding of the health and safety problems which can arise from manual handling operations
Be able to carry out assessments of manual handling operations using standard forms, thus producing a clear record
Be able to draw conclusions from the assessments and make recommendations for action
Appreciate their limitations and know when further expertise is required and who to consult
Who should attend : those having responsibility for Assessments in departments where manual handling operations take place on a regular basis. This course is only for employees of the University, it is not applicable to students or non-University staff.
Please note: If you book a place on this course and fail to attend or fail to give 48 hours notice of cancellation there will be a charge to cover costs. The charge is dependent on the cost of the course to the University.
Please note: If you are intending to travel by car to the training venue, please allow sufficient time to locate a parking space and to walk to the training venue, as parking may not be available immediately adjacent.
This course is normally run twice per year and is open to staff from any School or Professional Service. If dates for forthcoming courses are not displayed below, we will be waiting for room allocations from Central Timetabling and the dates will posted as soon as we receive confirmation of the location (typically late August).
