NTFS and CATE Briefing
Duration 1 hour
Team Professional Development

This session will introduce UONs colleagues to the National Teaching Fellowship Scheme (NTFS) and Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence (CATE)

It will outline the awards purpose, selection criteria, NTFS/CATE 2024 application themes and the application process at UoN.

NTFS and CATE are awarded annually by Advance HE and can be used to show our commitment to individual and team excellence in learning and teaching.  The NTFS and CATE schemes are both highly competitive, with only approximately 55 NTF and 15 CATE awards being made each year.

Each year, UoN invites colleagues and teams to submit an expression of interest for NTFS (individuals) or CATE (teams). These are reviewed by the NTFS and CATE panel and up to three expressions of interests are selected to progress to a full NTFS submission and one CATE expression of interest to a full CATE submission. These colleagues will receive the support of a mentor to help them in developing their submission. More information can be found on the NTFS/CATE Moodle site.

Who should attend?

Individual colleagues or teams who can demonstrate an outstanding impact on student outcomes and/or teaching profession in higher education and want to share their excellent practice nationally.

Colleagues from across UoN campuses can attend the briefing session and apply for NTFS/CATE. Please review the NTFS and CATE criteria to determine your suitability for the awards.

The Lord Dearing Award (LDA) criteria reflects NTFS and CATE, so we would especially welcome applications/interest from LDA award holders.

You are welcome to attend this session if you are interested in applying in 2025 or in subsequent years.

More information can be found on the NTFS/CATE Moodle site.
