Course description:

(Staff only workshop)
This workshop is aimed at both new and experienced academic colleagues who would like to enquire into the student experience of a learning activity that they would like to understand more thoroughly and which they would like to enhance in the future. This may be of particular interest to colleagues from disciplinary fields other than Education and Social Sciences and who are less familiar with a qualitative research methodology.

Learning outcomes:

  • Understand the context for when small-scale research into teaching & learning is most appropriate and effective.
  • Understand the theoretical perspectives of research, including research paradigms and methodological. differences. Recognise the importance of research design and effectively apply this.
  • Make effective choices relating to research tools when conducting small-scale research.
  • Have developed an initial research question and identified a credible plan of action.
