This session will introduce the key skills and considerations in supporting the career development of others. The session will provide an introduction to career development, help you facilitate effective development conversations and explain the opportunities within the university for professional development.
This session is designed for any member of staff who has responsibility for supporting the professional development of staff across any job family and at any level, including line managers, mentors, coaches or other supporting relationships.
Learning Outcomes:
This workshop relates to the “Communication”, “Leading others: Drives performance”, “Leading others: Promotes wellbeing and inclusion” competencies outlined in the Competency Framework.
Please note this session will cover broad themes that will cover core principles, techniques and advice that are universally relevant to help you support the career development of your team. Therefore, this will not cover specific advice for individual job roles/pathways.
For those in formal team leadership positions, the recommended progression after this course would be to attend the ‘Developing Talent at UoN’ workshop, which covers more strategic aspects to identifying, growing and rewarding talent at UoN.
