This session is aimed at those who manage or supervise other members of staff.
Good performance management involves providing timely and relevant feedback to individuals within your team. However sometimes people’s performance may not always be where it needs to be, and in this workshop, you will explore how to manage this in a pro-active way. Members of the HR Employee Relations team will explain the informal and formal performance management process, followed by a group discussion of case studies.
This workshop relates to the: “Communication”, “Leading others: Drives Performance” and “Leading Others: Promotes wellbeing and inclusion” competencies outlined in the Competency Framework.
Learning outcomes:
Understand the importance of managing performance in a pro-active and timely way
Explore the informal and formal performance management process, including responsibilities, steps and goals
Work through how to conduct effective and open performance conversations
Interpret case studies and understand recommended courses of action
Please be aware that this workshop is a discussion-based session with pair and group exercises. You do not have to share anything you are not comfortable with but bear in mind you will be asked to reflect on your own experiences.
