This course forms part of the Researcher Academy Developing and defending robust qualitative research programme. It is followed by in-depth practical workshops on specific methods which currently include:
Aim: To be able to understand the differences between different qualitative approaches.
Objectives:
This workshop will introduce the rationales for: interviewing; focus groups; documents; conversation analysis; observation; images; mixing qualitative methods.
Participants will be introduced by facilitators to core concepts and debates around the various approaches to doing a qualitative study design. We will use small groups discussions (3-4 participants) and think about participants' questions and topics. We will feed back within the whole group. We will discuss the evaluation of qualitative research and think about how we ensure we are producing robust qualitative studies.
