This face-to-face course is run by the Researcher Academy

Target audience:

This course forms part of the Researcher Academy's Research methods Programme (internal view only opens in SharePoint). It follows day one and two of the programme Developing and defending a robust study design which we suggest you attend first. 

This is a practical workshop. We will explore the nature of interview data, how to collect it, how to analyse it and some of the ethical dilemmas.  We will practice and discuss doing an interview.  We will practice and discuss thematic analysis of some data.

Objectives:

• To introduce participants to preparing themselves to conduct an interview
• To introduce participants to formulating interview questions
• To think about how an interview might feel as an interviewee
• To introduce steps for analysis
• To explore some of the ethical dilemmas of interviewing
