This course is aimed at those who are new to mixed methods research and require more information about research designs and philosophical approaches to mixed methods research.

To outline the evolution and development of mixed method research as an alternative paradigm.
To illustrate the key characteristics of mixed method research and its appropriate use in research.
To highlight how its philosophical foundations affect approaches to gaining knowledge.
To explain the complexities and importance of research design as the foundation of mixed methods research.
We cannot advise you on your own research designs or approaches as every research project is different. These conversations must be had with your supervisory or research team.
