Research Supervisor Seminar Series: Mutual Recovery of Mental Wellbeing: The Role of the Creative University (online)
Duration 1 hour 30 minutes
Team Researcher Academy

This online course is run by the Researcher Academy and forms part of the Research Supervisor Seminar Series

The Researcher Academy courses are very popular and the majority are run in both semesters to give you the opportunity to attend at a time of the year that suits you.

Target Audience: University staff involved in research supervision (either formally or informally)

Course Description:

Professor Paul Crawford will introduce his work in advancing mutual recovery of mental health and wellbeing through various UKRI-funded projects in the interdisciplinary field of health humanities before and during Covid-19, most recently with Academy-award winning Aardman (Wallace & Gromit, Shaun the Sheep, Chicken Run) in the campaign What’s Up With Everyone?

He sets out how the arts and humanities are key to public health, and more specifically, university health, and how diverse, interdisciplinary scholarship and research can contribute to this. He proposes that the most successful universities of the future will be those that understand, develop and value creative reciprocity among students and staff who may otherwise keep to separate and lonely orbits. Part of this may be what he calls ‘mutual supervision’, breaking the expert to novice frame that often applies in postgraduate studies and in offering a more communitarian vision of a creative university.

Speakers: Paul Crawford

Process: Webinar - Panel presentations and discussion
