The handling of tissue from humans is a matter of sensitivity. The Human Tissue Authority (HTA) was set up to regulate the removal, storage, use and disposal of human bodies, organs and tissue for a number of Scheduled Purposes – these include research, education and training and are set out in the Human Tissue Act 2004 (HT Act).
Dr James Dixon, Designated Individual for the license and Mr Owen Mcintosh, Human Tissue Quality Manager will talk through current processes, requirements and expectations, resources available to manage human tissue for research activities in line with Human Tissue Authority and Act.
